The Advanced Tactical Trauma Course (ATTC) is an intensive 12-hour training designed to prepare participants for the reality of managing casualties in hostile environments. This course focuses on tactical emergency casualty care (TECC) principles, combining theory, practical exercises, and realistic simulations to ensure competency in trauma management under pressure.

In this course, you’ll learn to:

  • Operate safely in a hostile environment:
    • Understand threat zones (cold, warm, hot) and their impact on casualty care
    • Implement strategies to ensure personal and casualty safety under threat
  • Apply trauma treatment in high-risk situations:
    • Perform tactical casualty care in real-world challenging conditions
    • Provide rapid and effective interventions while maintaining situational awareness
  • Control catastrophic haemorrhage:
    • Apply bleeding control techniques including:
      • Tourniquet application (self-applied and buddy-assisted)
      • Wound packing and pressure dressings
    • Understand and manage shock and its implications
  • Manage an unconscious casualty in a hostile environment:
    • Conduct primary and secondary assessments under stress
    • Apply airway management techniques and treat chest trauma
    • Implement casualty extraction and triage procedures
  • Engage in immersive, high-stress simulations:
    • Participate in scenario-based training replicating real-world challenges
    • Build decision-making confidence under dynamic conditions

Real Response’s HLTAID016 – Manage First Aid Services and Resources course is designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge required to establish, maintain, and facilitate the provision of appropriate first aid in the workplace. This unit is ideal for those in occupational first aid or management roles responsible for overseeing first aid services.

In this course, you’ll learn to:

  • Determine Workplace First Aid Requirements:
    • Identify workplace hazards and assess associated risks to determine necessary first aid resources.
    • Develop first aid action plans in consultation with relevant parties to address identified needs.
  • Establish and Maintain Workplace First Aid Facilities:
    • Monitor and maintain the availability and operational readiness of first aid equipment and personnel.
    • Ensure proper storage, maintenance, and disposal of first aid equipment and resources in line with legislative and workplace procedures.
  • Maintain Workplace First Aid Records:
    • Complete and manage documentation in accordance with legislative and workplace requirements.
    • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records and information as per organisational policies.
  • Review the Provision of First Aid in the Workplace:

Real Response’s PUAEME008 – Provide Pain Management course is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to administer restricted analgesics for pain relief as part of a medically supervised first responder organisation. This unit is applicable to personnel from emergency services, volunteer organisations, or any group that provides a medically supervised first aid service.

In this course, you’ll learn to:

  • Assess the Need for Analgesia:
    • Evaluate the casualty’s condition to determine the necessity for pain relief.
    • Identify contraindications and precautions associated with analgesic use to ensure safe administration.
  • Prepare and Administer Analgesics:
    • Access and prepare analgesic drugs following organisational policies and industry standards.
    • Explain the purpose and potential effects of the analgesic to the casualty, obtain consent, and administer the drug while continuously monitoring the casualty’s condition.
  • Perform Handover and Complete Documentation:
    • Communicate details of the incident and analgesic administration to medical personnel during handover.
    • Accurately complete all required documentation, including records of drug use, and participate in debriefing sessions as per organisational procedures.
  • Licensing and Regulatory Information:
    Please note that this unit of competency does not grant the authority to obtain, prescribe or carry restricted analgesic drugs.
    Requirements for the storage and administration of these drugs must be applied in accordance with relevant Commonwealth and state or territory legislation, Australian Standards, and industry codes of practice. No occupational licensing, certification, or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit.

Our Courses

Real Response’s HLTAID014 – Provide Advanced First Aid course is designed to prepare individuals to manage complex medical emergencies across a range of settings. In this course, you’ll learn to:

    • Ensure safety for all and assess the need for additional assistance.
  • Provide advanced first aid procedures:
    • Administer CPR, use defibrillators, and manage advanced scenarios like drug overdoses, crush injuries, and childbirth.
    • Deliver care with sensitivity to vulnerable casualties, ensuring age-appropriate communication.
  • Coordinate first aid activities:
